Black Friday~Not!

California's First Cathedral...
And oldest continuing functional house of worship in our State
(Isn't that the cutest bird on top of the Cross?)

I just love that the word Eucharist means Thanksgiving...It was the highlight of our thankful day, yesterday.  The kids and I traveled out of town with my parents and began our morning in this historical dwelling for Thanksgiving Mass, a true banquet of The Lord.
All of my siblings and extended family had their own plans for Thanksgiving this year so it was just my parents, me and the kids.  I was so thankful to have their company!
~So there began our plan for a great escape to the sea~
Am I a terrible Mom for secretly being glad that I wasn't cooking?

Yesterday was a bit stormy...

Storm or no storm, the coastal views never cease to take my breath away!
This view is along the famous Hwy 1...A little piece of heaven.

Our holiday Friday was spent hiking around this beautiful State Park with views that evoke amazing grace.
It made for a nice day to actively avoid crowds, shopping, and traffic at all cost...
Our "deal of the day" was this magnificent gift from God, free of charge!

This is my Mom and Dad...
They are troopers and great hikers!
NO BLACK FRIDAY HERE...Just peace and gratitude.

Thank you God...Oh what a glorious day!
Grandpa and the boys
Big Brother gave little sister plenty of rides!
Me and Mom
I just loved this giant cypress stretching up to the heavens.
The ending to our day was a stop to see Dad at the Fire Station!
Princess helped out with the ladder truck, despite having a touch of the stomach flu...so far the rest of us are still standing:)
Our (almost 13 yo) son is thrilled to be staying at the station tonight...He ceases the moment any chance he gets!
+Everyone was happy to give Dad a big hug, especially Mama+
Then we headed home with ocean views dancing in our heads, thankful for a Friday that was NOT Black Friday:)

  2. This is EXACTLY how I would have loved to spend Thanksgiving day! I can just feel the peace in this post and even though you were without your husband and the kids without Dad, I'm so glad you had your parents and were able to put a twist on your plans that way you did. Beautiful day of thanksgiving!

  6. Tiffany, you spent Thanksgiving day to giving thanks to God for all the beauty of the roaring dea, and the soaring trees, and the awe you and your family feel in marveling at all God's wonders! I can't think of a better way to thank Our Lord! Sometimes, God wants us just to notice the gifts around us!! :) what beauty you and your family saw. ((and Princess is getting tall!))

  7. You were in my most favorite place in the world (granted we don't travel much- at all). And we love that church. Do you think we will recognize each other when our paths cross some day? ;)

I think not cooking is fine- it is about the time we spend with our loved ones!
