I Can't Move! {Reflecting On The Cross}

"Worship him who was hung on the cross because of you, even if you are hanging there yourself."
~St. Gregory of Nazianzen~

Well, the effects of the Nun Run caught up with me...I can't move!
I ended up in the ER this morning in excruciating back pain, like nothing I've ever had before.  {I have a new appreciation for those who have chronic back problems or back injuries}  It appears that my back injury stemmed from me being ill-prepared for my 5K~Big lessons learned here.  Though I am very embarrassed, I am hoping that my humiliation will be an example for what not to do!
I am hanging in there and offering it up! If you find it in your heart to pray for me, I would sure appreciate it.  Now that I am getting the pain a bit under control, I am finding the humor through it all and finding it a great opportunity to keep my eyes on Christ, the ultimate teacher, paying attention to the lesson at hand.  I pray that I might unite this little suffering to His.

One of my favorite lines from our Lenten Reading (Loving It) thus far:
"Little lamb, little lamb, don't run ahead of me, and don't lag behind.  Just walk with me."
I thought I'd also share these Lenten Blessings to Help Carry Our Cross from the March Magnificat:
{I'm going to be soaking these in through the pain this week}
We ask the Lord to bless all our experiences of the cross this day and throughout the holy season of Lent.
Sunday
The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved, it is the power of God.~1 Cor.1:18~
Monday
But may I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.~Gal. 6:14~
Tuesday
For he is our peace, he who made both one and broke down the dividing wall of enmity, through his flesh, abolishing the law with its commandments and legal claims, that he might create in himself one new person in place of the two, thus establishing peace, and might reconcile both with God, in one body, through the cross, putting enmity to death by it.~Eph. 2:14-16
I can't sit up for long so I'll be back later to finish!
Does this mean I am officially a member of the Old Ladies Club?

  1. Oh Tiffany, I do hope and pray you get well. Take the opportunity to spend a day soaking yourself in your spiritual readings and Our Lord's Word, as you are doing. I'd love a single day to do just that!! :)

  5. Yikes! I hope you feel better soon. I'm glad you can find that sense of humor...sometimes we just have to, don't we?

    I, too, love that line from the book. I love the book and find myself laughing thinking it was written just for me.

  6. Tiffany, I've only been following you a short time and have only commented a few times, but I so enjoy your posts. Your love of God and for your family really comes through. The story you shared about your first husband was very, very touching. Prayers that you feel well soon! +JMJ+

  7. And here I was whining over my total-body-I'm-a-fool-for-running-without-being-ready-soreness...and you in the ER! I'm offering up my aches and pains for you today. I don't think we're old...yet. Just a little silly. :)

    BTW... I loved your last post about race day and how your husband set up your course and everything. Actually, I love all of your posts...lol. I follow and cry and think of comments and run out of time and then just keep them in my heart to ponder on. Keep running the race, Sister!

  8. Oh.. My dear, I feel your pain (well not actually) and I will pray for you. I didn't even make it to the run due to still being so out of shape and small injury (more of my pride than anything really!) . God Bless you and your family!
