The Unhappiest Place On Earth

Both photos taken from our evening prayer vigil

~Today is Day 7 of the 40 Days for Life Campaign~
Praise God I can move again!
Only by His grace was I able to make our 1-hour prayer vigil shift this evening with my oldest son, to humble myself and pray. (Today's theme)  This was my second shift standing in front of the Unhappiest Place On Earth.  Yet peace abounds there on the sidewalk as our weaknesses become our strengths; Our resolve grows to pray more fervently and it stirs our human hearts.  I am quite moved by the love and peace experienced there on the clinic sidewalk, even on a busy street, even tonight in the steady rain.  I thought about my Lenten retreat being so applicable here.  If only the mothers considering abortion knew how much God loves them, they would leap for joy and run far away from here.  If only the abortionists and Planned Parenthood advocates knew how much God agonizes over them, they would never fathom killing another baby.  God's love and mercy is right there, readily available for all of us... but mostly for them.  God desires them more than any of us standing on the sidewalk...If only they knew.   I pray that our little light be a flicker of compassion to someone groping for love in the darkness.  A helping hand and arms of mercy are just a reach away.  As St. Therese teaches us: "The weaker one is, without desires or virtues, the more suited one is for the workings of this consuming and transforming love."
My prayer tonight is that the unhappiest place on earth be flooded with goodness and light, directly from the happiest places on earth... the hearts of those prayer warriors on the sidewalk, reflecting Christ's love and mercy.
"We have this confidence in Him, that if we ask any thing according to His will, He hears us.  And if we know that He hears us in regard to whatever we ask, we know that what we have asked Him for is ours."~1 John 5:14-15~
