Blessed*Mary Mother Of God*Brownies

Happy New Year
~Feast of Mary Mother Of God~

I  just love this beautiful symbol...
The Fleur-de-lis with its three petals united by a single
stem has embedded in its emblematic symbolism Mary's own supernatural relationship
to the Holy Trinity:
Mary is the daughter of the Father,
the Mother of the Son,
and the bride of the Holy Spirit.
(Magnificat, December 2010)

Looking for an easy and meaningful treat for this feast day,
I thought of tracing this ornament
and creating a stencil, using a file folder and exacto knife.
I also posted this over at Catholic Cuisine.
After baking the brownies and letting them cool,
I gently placed the stencil on top:
In my decorating supplies, I had some edible
white pearl dust that I applied with a small paint brush.
(I imagine that you could also use powdered sugar or white icing to achieve a similar effect)
This was the final result...
~This was so easy~
I'm thinking of all the fun we can have, decorating treats with stencils!
On this first day of the New Year,
I am also reflecting upon Mary's emphatic and heartfelt "Yes" to God...
Vowing to work on my own "Yes" to God in this New Year:
Please transform my desires
to be conformed to Your will.
If what I desire is not Your will,
decrease my desire for *my* will,
and increase my desire for Yours.
*Happy New Year
From Our Family to Yours*
"The Lord bless you and keep you!
The Lord let his face shine upon you, and be gracious to you!
The Lord look upon you kindly and give you peace!
~Book of Numbers 6:22-27~

  1. How lovely! You always find a connection to God in everything you do and then share it. (I could easily make three meals a day out of brownies!)

  2. Happy New Year Tiffany. Love the idea of the fleur de lis for the brownies. Happy Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God ! Love your prayer about decreasing our will and filling our desires with His Will.

  3. Brownies are one of my all time favs! I love this idea and had no idea the symbol meant what it meant. Thanks for sharing another great idea :) I very much appreciate your prayers for our nephew. Many blessings to you and yours in 2011.

  4. Thank you for sharing. I was looking for some last minute ideas today and saw this post. I did not have a mix, but was able to use a simple brownie recipe and powder sugar instead of edible white pearl dust. Happy New Year!

  5. Thank you for your kind comment. I was posting about our brownies right as your comment came in. I hope you don't mind that I linked back to your post. Thank you again for sharing your idea- it really made my boys' evening. They were very impressed. :)

  6. Beautiful celebration! You are truly creative!! Sometimes I ran out if ideas! What ablessing to have friends like you!!

  7. Having Christmas with my side of the family tomorrow and I am going to decorate the brownies again! Just remembered it from last year. :)
